*Dr. Ajeigbe Takes Charge: Ekiti State Polytechnic's New Rector Sets the Stage for Progress*

 

Dr. Sunday Osinkolu Ajeigbe, the newly appointed Rector of Ekiti State Polytechnic, Iṣan Ekiti, wasted no time in addressing key stakeholders of the institution following his official assumption of office on Monday. His initial actions included a series of meetings with Principal Officers and union leaders to lay the groundwork for his tenure.

On Tuesday, September 3rd, Dr. Ajeigbe engaged with leaders from the major unions on campus, including the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP), and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU).

In his address, the Rector emphasized the importance of unity and vision within the unions. He urged the leaders to align their efforts with the Polytechnic’s broader goals, stressing dedication, commitment, and integrity as essential qualities for effective unionism. Dr. Ajeigbe also called for continued peace on campus and advised that consultations should precede any major decisions to prevent misunderstandings.

The Rector assured the union leaders of his commitment to prioritizing their welfare and sought their full cooperation in driving the institution forward.

Dr. Ajeigbe urged the union leaders to enhance their contributions to the ongoing success and achievements of the Polytechnic. He emphasized the importance of maintaining focus, vision, and integrity in their union activities, advising them to let the institution's mission guide their actions. He also stressed the need for dedication and commitment. To avoid any potential crises or misunderstandings, Dr. Ajeigbe advised the unions to always engage in consultation before making decisions

Complementing the Rector's address, other Principal Officers, including the Registrar, Mr. J.A.O Olorunsola; the Bursar, Mr. J.O Awe; and the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. J.A Akerele, commended the union leaders for their past cooperation with the management. They urged them to continue in the same spirit, noting that Dr. Ajeigbe's proactive approach and intended fatherly role would foster further progress

In their responses, the union leaders—ASUP Chairman Mr. Babatunde Àjàyí, SSANIP Chairman Mr. Oluwaseun Fabunmi, and NASU Chairman Mr. Ọlálékan Àjàyí—expressed appreciation for the Rector's swift action in engaging with them. They pledged their support and collaboration and urged Dr. Ajeigbe to maintain regular dialogue with the unions, emphasizing that staff welfare should remain a priority under his leadership.
