Eight students of Ekiti State Polytechnic, Iṣan Ekiti, have benefitted from the Widows, Aged and Orphans Hope (WAOH) Empowerment Programme, an initiative championed by Her Excellency, the wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji. The students, who are orphans, received ₦100,000 each as part of the WAOH Education Intervention Fund.
The programme held on Monday 21st October, 2024, aims to support the vulnerable, brought relief to the beneficiaries and was lauded by stakeholders present. Dr. Oyebanji reiterated her commitment to helping the less privileged and ensuring that every child has access to quality education, regardless of their background.
In a further gesture of goodwill, the state governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, announced an additional sponsorship plan under his mother’s foundation. The governor pledged to sponsor two orphaned students from each higher institution in the state, including Ekiti State Polytechnic, Iṣan Ekiti, from their first year to their final year.
Among those present at the event was the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Sunday Osinkolu Ajeigbe, who expressed his gratitude to the Governor and his wife for their generosity and unwavering support for the students of the institution.
