The Rector of Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti, Dr. Sunday Osinkolu Ajeigbe, has emphasized the pivotal role of youths in national development, stating that his institution is ready to support the ongoing data collation exercise for youths and active citizens in Ekiti State, aims to facilitate better planning and implementation of programmes that will enhance wealth creation and employment opportunities spearheaded by the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment under Governor Biodun Oyebanji's Youth Empowerment Programmes.

Dr. Ajeigbe made this commitment during a courtesy visit to his office by the Ekiti State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Otunba Kayode Fasae. He noted that the state government's empowerment programs align with the Polytechnic’s vision of producing graduates with strong academic backgrounds and vocational skills that enable self-reliance and job creation.

Earlier, Commissioner Fasae, who solicited support of authorities of various tertiary institutions in the state in collating the data, explained that students who participate in the data collation exercise would gain access to various business and empowerment opportunities facilitated by the state government. One of the key benefits of registration, he noted, is eligibility for selection in the proposed Ekiti State Government/Wema Bank Plc training program for 100,000 artisans and youths in financial management, trade, and vocational skills.

He further highlighted other government programs available to students, including the Agency Banking Programme, which aims to expand banking services to underserved areas, and the Ekiti State Employment Trust Fund (ETF). Under the ETF, Governor Oyebanji has pledged an annual ₦1 billion startup loan to support eligible Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.

Additionally, students of Ekiti origin in tertiary institutions are eligible to register under the Labour Market Information System (LMIS), a platform designed to link job seekers with employment opportunities. The Commissioner also revealed plans for a Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) to enhance collaboration between the government and private sector stakeholders.

The Polytechnic Rector expressed confidence that these initiatives would significantly boost youth employment and entrepreneurship, urging students to take full advantage of the opportunities presented.
