EKITI STATE POLYTECHNIC STUDENTS JOIN OTHERS TO CELEBRATE 2025 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS’ DAY IN EKITI*

Students of Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti on Tuesday, 18th November 2025 joined their counterparts across the world to commemorate the 2025 International Students’ Day, a global celebration that highlights the collective strength, responsibilities and transformative role of students in nation-building.

The event, which held at the prestigious Adetiloye Hall, Fountain Hotel, Ado-Ekiti, brought together hundreds of participants from various secondary schools and tertiary institutions across Ekiti State. The auditorium was filled with vibrant colours, intellectual energy, and youthful enthusiasm as students converged to discuss the theme for this year’s celebration: “The Role of Students in 21st Century Governance.”

Speaking at the occasion, the Rector of Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti, Dr. Sunday Osinkolu Ajeigbe delivered an inspiring goodwill message that resonated deeply with the young audience. Dr. Ajeigbe, who was warmly received by the organisers and participants, commended the students for their commitment to education and their eagerness to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Dr. Ajeigbe urged the students to remain focused, resilient and value-driven as they pursue their academic goals. He emphasized that Nigerian students possess the intellectual capacity and moral strength needed to reposition the nation for greatness if they channel their skills toward productive ventures.

The event featured keynote presentations, panel discussions, cultural displays and motivational sessions designed to equip students with the knowledge and confidence required to contribute meaningfully to governance at various levels. Representatives from different institutions presented thought-provoking ideas on how young people can contribute to transparent leadership and sustainable development.

Participants at the event expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn, interact and engage with leaders and fellow students. Many noted that the presence and message of the EKSPOLY Rector further motivated them to become more proactive and visionary in their academic pursuits and civic responsibilities.

Also in attendance was the Polytechnic’s Head of Students' Affairs, Dr. K.A. Adeboye, who was honoured with an *Award of Impact* in recognition of his outstanding contributions to student development and welfare, alongside other top officials of the institution who accompanied the Rector to the programme. 

The 2025 International Students’ Day celebration in Ekiti State thus emphasized the centrality of students in shaping national and global governance, reaffirming that the future truly belongs to a generation prepared to lead with knowledge and purpose.
