The Rector of Ekiti State Polytechnic, Iṣan Ekiti, Dr. Sunday Osinkolu Ajeigbe, has vowed to collaborate with traditional leaders and other relevant stakeholders in the state to propel the institution towards greater development.
Dr Ajeigbe made this commitment during a courtesy visit by the Oye Local Government Youth Forum to his office today, Tuesday October 8, 2024.
In his address, Dr. Ajeigbe emphasized the Polytechnic’s plans to introduce additional academic programs aimed at boosting student enrollment. "We are working on expanding the curriculum to include new courses that will attract more students, as part of our strategic growth initiative," he said.
Dr. Ajeigbe also revealed an innovative plan to integrate the informal sector into the formal educational framework. The Polytechnic intends to offer short-term training programs for artisans, which would culminate in the issuance of certificates. "This initiative will not only enhance the skills of local artisans but also provide them with formal recognition of their expertise, empowering them for better opportunities," he added.
Earlier, the Youth Forum, led by their President, Engr. Femi Fagbemi, praised the Rector's leadership and pledged the Forum's unwavering support.
Engr. Fagbemi advised Dr. Ajeigbe to establish strong relationships with traditional rulers within the local government and to engage relevant community members in the Polytechnic's developmental efforts.
As the Polytechnic positions itself for expansion and greater impact, the collaboration between the institution and local leaders is expected to foster a more inclusive and dynamic learning environment for students and the surrounding community.
