The Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan Ekiti organized a well-attended orientation program for National Diploma (ND) I students preparing to embark on the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).
The event, which took place on Wednesday 30th October, 2024, was officially opened by the Rector, Dr. Sunday Osinkolu Ajeigbe. In his address, Dr. Ajeigbe urged the students to uphold the values and reputation of Ekiti State Polytechnic, reminding them of their role as ambassadors of the Institution. He encouraged them to demonstrate integrity and responsibility throughout their SIWES placement.
In his opening remarks, the Polytechnic Registrar, Mr. J.A.O Olorunsola, represented by the Assistant Registrar, Mrs M.O Ilesanmi congratulated the students and emphasized the importance of SIWES as an essential component of their academic programme. He highlighted that the hands-on experience would enhance their skills and make them more competitive in the job market.
Representatives from the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and various guest speakers also attended, offering practical advice on professional conduct and workplace ethics. The speakers covered topics ranging from effective communication to workplace safety, providing the students with vital insights to guide them during their industrial placements.
The orientation concluded with an interactive session, allowing students to ask questions and clarify concerns about their upcoming SIWES experience
