The Chairman of the Governing Council of Ekiti State Polytechnic, Iṣan Ekiti, Prof. Adedayo Fasakin, has announced the readiness of the Institution to upgrade by increasing the number of courses offered to attract more students.
This was disclosed today during a courtesy visit to the Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Mrs. Olabimpe Aderiye.
Accompanied by the Polytechnic Rector, Prof. Johnson Kayode Adesodun, the Council Chairman emphasized the importance of the ministry of education as a supervising body and a key stakeholder in the educational sector. He highlighted the need for technical colleges to feed the Polytechnic with students pursuing further studies.
Prof. Fasakin outlined the Council's vision to transform the Polytechnic into a hub for agricultural produce and emphasized the need to increase the Institution's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). He also stressed the necessity for additional funding, given the Polytechnic's status as a new institution, and revealed plans to introduce Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.
In her response, the Commissioner expressed the ministry's readiness for pragmatic collaboration as a stakeholder in the educational sector. She encouraged the Polytechnic to remain aligned with the vision of its founding fathers and urged the institution to visit technical colleges to sensitize students for increased enrollment.
Dr. Aderiye also advised involving the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, and Investment in the collaboration to facilitate trainings and certification of artisans in the state by the Polytechnic.
This strategic move aims to elevate the Polytechnic’s standing and ensure it meets the educational needs of its growing student population while contributing significantly to the state's economic development.
