As Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti, prepares to roll out 19 newly accredited academic programmes, the Governing Council of the Institution has appealed to the traditional ruler of the host community to intervene in key matters affecting its development and welfare of staff and students.

The Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Adedayo Fasakin, made the plea during a courtesy visit to the Onisan of Isan-Ekiti, Oba Gabriel Ayodele Adejuwon, at his palace on Thursday June 19th, 2025. The visit was part of efforts to foster closer collaboration between the Polytechnic and the community as the Institution moves into a new phase of academic expansion.

Prof. Fasakin urged the monarch to help facilitate the release of more land originally allocated to the Polytechnic for its ongoing agricultural development and expansion, stressing the urgency as the Institution commences the newly approved programmes by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

He also appealed to the monarch to prevail on landlords in the town to make housing more affordable for staff and students, noting that exorbitant rents could undermine the Institution's mission and staff welfare.

Responding, Oba Adejuwon expressed delight at the visit and pledged continuous support for the growth of the Polytechnic. He revealed that he had already taken steps to engage with the original landowners in the affected quarters to ensure the release of the land for the Institution's use.

The monarch also called on the Council to give due consideration to qualified indigenes of Isan-Ekiti in future recruitment exercises, emphasizing the importance of community inclusion in the Polytechnic’s development.

Accompanying the Governing Council  on the visit were the Rector, Dr. Sunday Osinkolu Ajeigbe, Deputy Rector, Mr. E.A. Ajayi, and the Registrar, Mrs. Adewumi Abimbola Yetunde.

The Polytechnic, which has continued to record milestones since its upgrade, is set to further solidify its academic profile with the take-off of the new programmes across various disciplines.
